Cafe Society: Old, new restaurants will ring in the New Year
Also new is the expanded dining space at Zoeys Cafe & Loft (451 E. Main St.) in the 1920s-era El Jardin complex of shops in downtown Ventura. Located in what used to be Accolades Gallery under the coffee loft directly upstairs, the space offers inside dining for those who prefer not to brave the charming but occasionally chilly outdoor patio.
The new space includes a small (but full) bar and a fireplace around which some couches have been arranged. And it opens just in time for chef Andrew Hoganson to whip up a four-course Graham Beck wine dinner on New Years Eve.
The son of Zoeys owners and a California Culinary Academy grad, Hoganson is fresh from externing at Masas Restaurant in San Francisco with executive chef (and French Laundry veteran) Gregory Short.
He plans on bringing that knowledge, experience and cuisine to Zoeys Cafe, said proud dad Steve Hoganson.
